I don't know what is GOG's deal legal-wise (I'm sure they got it covered tho), but the reality is that in general I have zero to slim problems with GOG versions of old games as opposed to the latest patched retail versions of said old games. Pretty sure they can only legally sell with the last official version. I have 100 hours in my GOG planescape, and well over 150 crashes. Even the infinity games, which cdprojekt started out with permission to modify (they started by porting BG to poland), aren't perfect. Unless it is a cdpjojekt red game, they dont touch code. Thats why mods, even epic ones, have to be 100% free.

I think it is illegal to adjust code and resell a game. I hear the same thing about how GOG fixes their games. Originally posted by yjzep:Just a thought. I put the Flawless Widescreen fix on the GOG version and with Nvidia's Dynamic Super Resolution I'm able to put the game on 4k. The Steam version even with fixes would crash ever so often. I got it from GOG and it never crashed on me. The difference between the GOG and Steam version is that it's guranteed to work on your system. Flawless Widescreen though fixes this premenantly. I'd kill for a 2014 HD version of this game with achievements, steam cards, wallpapers and other neat things. Plain and simple - no one competent cares.

Maybe they'd update Steam version with possible GoG fixes, who knows :) But let's face it, I don't think that current rights owners/distributors care for this game that much :/ I doubt there is even anyone moderating these forums.

(no other method worked perfectly for me, includin hex edits) What I'm looking for specifically is a painless native way to play this game on widescreen resolutions I have to use FlawlessWidescreen now and, while I'm grateful it works, to be honest it's an annoyance. Vanilla and Steam version is far from perfect on modern systems and GoG is known for fixing this stuff before they sell it, at least as far as I know. Although I'm sure there is some workaround for your problem OP, I'm wondering this myself.
